Good weather equals really good turn-out at Portland Cars and Coffee and Saturday's was no exception. At its peak, there were around 200 cars that stopped by. Still not at 100%, I only stayed for just under two hours.

Although it's no Challenger Hellcat (which previously visited Portland Cars and Coffee a few months ago), a white Challenger Scat Pack did swing by.

Like does he only have it to run that fancy plate surround on his pop up?

I love this color. Great photos!

The car or stripes? I think the stripes are a fun way to show you're a fan / enthusiast without a zillion logos.

If I were to ever own a Porsche Cayman or a 911, I would spend the extra cash and order it in that color. Love it as well.

I like the subtly of the color kidney grille stripes... that said, is it okay to have them on a non-M or non-M Sport model? I'm not sure.

Front plates should not be allowed. Man, do they screw up the looks of some vehicles.

If I had any money left over after nice seats, PASM, and torque vectoring, yes me too.

Kinja'd!!! Flat Six > desertdog5051

Kinja'd!!!0

Yes, literally "screw up". The previous owner of my car used three different types of screws to attach the front plate, and they didn't even put it on straight. It is driving me nuts.

Kinja'd!!! desertdog5051 > Flat Six
01/26/2015 at 13:51

Kinja'd!!!1

Owww. That really hurts. Front plates really don't serve any purpose, either.

Yeah, the stripes. I'm still on the fence about it, but it's a lot less gaudy than what a lot of people choose to do. I'm just such a fan of the old Q-ship Ms, like the E39 M5, that the newer, shouty-er ones and adding anything more that points out to people that you're driving an M (or an M Performance model), leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. The people in the know know without you having to give them extra clues. This is pretty subtle, though.

Yeah, it's not terrible. See my response to Flat Six. I think the correct term for these M-light versions is "M Performance". I didn't like the idea at first, but they seem to be properly fantastic cars (just not quite as hardcore) that sound like they've earned the designation.

Kinja'd!!! Audi For Life > davesaddiction @ opposite-lock.com

Yeah, forgot that they are called M Performance models.

I assume they still have M Sport as a trim line (with eleventy-hundred M badges).

Lame.

The older M's were cool because they were so restrained and could blend in. I remember thinking the E46 was terribly gaudy when it came out with the quad tail pipes and side vents. Now the E46 is almost a classic, and I wouldn't kick one of these out of my garage if it showed up magically:

I think it's something like:

Base
M Sport Package
M Performance
M

I'm pretty sure there will be M++ and M.NET some day as well :D

Ha! I guess you do get a better suspension with M Sport, right? Hopefully it's not purely cosmetic...

Well said.

But that's a race car. Brighter and more ridiculous, the better.

I think it depends on the model. The 528i has an M Sport package but suspension isn't listed as an option.

Kinja'd!!!

Then again, you can get an M Performance side sill decal thingy thing.

I can't find photos of one right now, but there's one that was around the Pacific NW with bright orange decals instead of the red ones. I prefer them in red than orange.

Same here. I think I'd want the gray/red or the blue/silver, or white/silver, if that means I'm getting an RS 4.0 - ha!

Kinja'd!!! Audi For Life > davesaddiction @ opposite-lock.com
01/26/2015 at 15:40

I like the really subtle look of white/silver, but my choice would be blue/silver.

Same. I think the blue is understated, too, compared with the other choices. The big wing is already shouty enough for the street.

It may not stand out as much, but I kind of have the same problem with the R8 GT / LMX / Competition spoiler. It just doesn't blend in with the rest of the R8. /shrugs
